In our swing dance class, every now and again I hit a certain stride and have to blink, realizing that Wonderful Husband and I are the most advanced dancers in the class. Which, I admit, doesn't mean much... we're not that good yet. But we've been at this for several years now, so sooner or later most of it sinks in.

Have now finished season two of Avatar. Wonderful Husband and I are pondering whether or not to play catch-up via DVDs or downloads, or just wait until the whole third season is available to purchase. In the meantime, we have the second season of The Muppet Show to go through. ^_^

Transformers: Animated this morning was... amusing. I find the constant visual references to G1 (this episode: Daniel, and Prime's trailer) great fun, and continue to like the writing. I think, however, that the writers don't like Daniel much. :)

Went to Farmer's Market a few hours earlier than usual, and think I shall continue the habit. Much better parking and much less crowded earlier in the day.

Waiting for color printout of costume set I'm doing with [livejournal.com profile] racerxmachina and [livejournal.com profile] aelfsciene so that I can hit up the fabric district and buy mass quantities.... *knock on wood*

Well, Ash versus the water, round one, went fairly well. He's much softer now, if not entirely de-flea'd yet. Stupid me didn't think he had fleas, so I got normal shampoo. But he's getting a few more baths over the next few days, until we get all of the fur crusts gone (to be fair, there's only one left, and that's on his chest) and the water is as clear when he's taken out as it was when he was put in. And he's spent this evening drowsing in my lap as I work on translations, so all seems to be good on that count.

Wore my dance heels to swing class tonight, which I think helped in some aspects and didn't in others. I suspect I'm going to end up laying down money for *real* dance shoes at some point, not just heels that I dedicated to the purpose.

The translation proceeds apace. All I have left to do is the OP and some baby Japanese in Konomi's scene. And then I get to toss the whole thing at [livejournal.com profile] sandpanther and have her tell me how off-base I am. Of course, at the same time I get to run through her translations of 21 and 22. Somehow I suspect there'll be far fewer accuracy problems in those, though. Still, all in all this is giving me a weird feeling that my B.A. in Japanese was perhaps not entirely a wasted endeavor.

Woke up this morning with a normal temperature (last night was ~99.8) and so went to work. At times I wish I hadn't (yay for stomach bugs) but I had work that needed to get done and I did it and I doubt any of my coworkers caught the difference from normal. It helps that I work on the second floor and they're all on the first. Came home and experimented with embroidering on the scrolling frame, which I think will work out nicely for these larger pieces. I need to work out some kind of stand for it, though. And then Wonderful Husband came home and we had dinner and went to swing dance class. Tonight we mainly refreshed ourselves on what we've learned in the previous classes and learned a dip we didn't know before. I think we're actually not bad at it, which is, of course, still a world away from being good at it. And Thursday nights we have ballroom dance which is also fun but in a different way. But now for shower and then perhaps a bit more embroidery and then bed, perchance to dream.

Kimono 1 (for [livejournal.com profile] racerxmachina): DONE. Beautiful stripey fabric that almost completely disguises the piecing I had to do to make it work. You'd think six yards of 45" wide fabric would be enough for one outfit for anyone, but nooooo... I am left with almost nothing in the way of scraps. I love this kimono, and think RXM does as well, because of how much inspiration it required, and how well it came out.

Kimono 2 (for Wonderful Husband): In-progress. Discovered that the fabric for it has a 5" repeat. Discovered this because there is a 5" tuck at the waist and when I ironed it flat, the leaves matched. Laughed aloud and called Wonderful Husband downstairs to look.

Went to swing dance class tonight, ironed out the chicken walk and learned another new move that we don't know the name for yet. Corned beef has been in the crockpot all day, and we just tossed veg (cabbage + carrots + corn) into a pot on the stove, so food should be ready soon. So for now I go sew on the other sleeve.
