Both aprons done, laundry done and put away, dishes done and put away, Spider-Man 3 watched (personal review: better than X-Men 3, which granted isn't saying too much, and my favorite parts were the Peter/Harry fights, all of them), on to [livejournal.com profile] swtjemz's obi.

Last night I went up to Liz's new place for a sewing night. Got about 20 minutes' worth of lost on the way, and have a background program running in my brain musing on what the best way to get there from here is likely to be in the future. In any case, took along the pieces of the kimono I'm making for [livejournal.com profile] swtjemz and started in on the construction. It went fairly well... in two and a half hours I got the major body pieces sewn together and most of the seams finished. Tonight will be more seam finishing and then cutting out the pieces for the collar and collar guard. If I do well enough, maybe I'll drag the Wonderful Husband over to the $2 theater to see TMNT when he gets home...? Probably not, but it's a thought.

Am still planning to go out to the SoCal RenFaire tomorrow despite being ditched by every single member of my family up to and including cousins. There are only two weekends of 'Faire left, and tomorrow is the only day I can go... Sunday is Mothers' Day, next Saturday is the Fabric District with Armida to shop for fabric for her wedding dress, and then next Sunday I have a wedding to attend. Busy girl, me. Then we have people visiting from out of town, and the next weekend is Fanime. Is this what it feels like to have a life...?

Aside from the fact that the Santa Ana winds are blowing (OMG moisturize moisturize moisturize!), thus far I like today.

Woke up, reread a doujinshi, checked the internet, gave the kitty and myself breakfast, tidied the upstairs bathroom, and found the kitchen again via washing lots of pots and pans and dishes. And it's only 9:30. Am debating sneaking back into the bedroom where the Wonderful Husband is still sleeping and trading bathrobe for jeans+t-shirt so that I can go put a few things back in my car, 409 a spot in it I found that I missed, and wash the windows on the inside as well. If all goes well today, I may make a kimono or two, bake some, water the plants in the yard, and figure out how to secure the tomato cages that the wind has blown over.

Not washing the car on the outside, though. No point when the wind's blowing like this.

I like days when I'm in the mood to Get Stuff Done.

Wheee~!

On a run about of errands today, I picked up fabric for the kimono, hakama, and obi I'm making for [livejournal.com profile] swtjemz and [livejournal.com profile] yzo for Fanime, hit the Build-A-Bear workshop in Fashion Island for some spot-cleaner for plushies, and then went over the the formerly $.98 Marukai store, which is now mostly a Japanese furniture store but still has a food section. If anyone needs anything from futons to dishes to rice cookers to tansu to tatami to Japanese massage chairs, I know where you can get them~! Plus they have a used kimono section for $19 each. Some of them were not bad, but I kept myself to what I'd come for, which was snacky stuff, panko, and a sake set for part of my uncle's wedding present. So now I have munched my way through wasabi peas, which were yummy and spicy. I have dried baby crabs and dried baby octopus to try at some point too. Will let y'all know what they're like. And mango Pocky, which I expect to be rather pleasant. Alas, they did not have Clorets XP Blue gum. Fortunately, I still have several packs in reserve.

For now, I intend to find something non-wasabi-pea-like for dinner, toss fabric in the washer, maybe rewatch some Kuuga to make sure I have the characters' voices still correct in my head for the next-to-last chapter of "Always," and hopefully call it an early night.

Somehow I'd never thought that ironing fabric could make my wrist hurt. OTOH, the iron does have weight and it is a repetetive motion, so.... Ironed fabric for two kimono and a dress this morning. Still have fabric for two more kimono and two hakama to iron, as well as any shirts in the clean-laundry pile.

...Taking break from ironing....

Want this pattern. Unfortunately the stores near me are out of it in my size. Alas. Must wait until they restock.

Finished the top for my Fuu costume last night. With luck (knock on wood) the rest of the costume will go easier. There's a pair of pants with minimal trim, a lined dress with trim around the hem, and a belt with a bow in the back. And, if I wanted to get technical, a pair of Arabian-esque pointed toe shoes. But those will depend on other projects because I can substitute black ballet slippers if time requires. Because I have to put Shinku back together and make at least two kimono (Wonderful Husband will be helping with that, we went and bought our fabric last night) as well in the next month. So, speed cosplay, which is not my norm.

Finished rereading the Earthsea trilogy and am feeling the need to purchase the other books in the universe. Also finished reading through my new Threads magazine and am feeling like making some summer wear. But projects first!

And Princess Princess. ^_^
