I'm still waking up one or two times a night to have a coughing jag. So not totally 100% over the flu yet. The fracturing of my sleep was compounded, not last night but the night before, by an intensely vivid dream involving Yuu*Yuu*Hakushou meeting a plethora of tropes/characters from European mythology, culminating in Kurama being "chosen" (it's a trap, it's always a trap; lucky for him he's pretty damn good at figuring such things out in advance) as the fox the Wild Hunt was chasing.

End result: Wild Hunt getting pwned and trapped forever within the boundaries of the hunt, since they can never kill the fox, as the fox within the boundaries was merely an illusion.

Do not mess with Kurama.

...dude, I have no YYH icons. This must be remedied!

*ahem* Anyhow, tonight I went through a box of paper in an effort to declutter my life and my bedroom. I have now thrown out 90% of it, keeping only a few artistic things (a couple of short stories I wrote in college, achievement certificates from high school, and a middle school notebook). While riffling through notebooks, I found the following gem, which has to date to 1994-1995, and IIRC [livejournal.com profile] hoshikage had a hand in writing it. I give you:

I think, at this point, there's only the epilogue to go. But it's way past my bedtime, so bed calls.

Been a while since I've written on this, but today I decided to transfer the two scenes I had on my portable drive onto the main file, and then I just started writing....

As a note, the Kenshin in here is borrowed from [livejournal.com profile] hoshikage's story "Brothers in Arms" which explains a few things about (1) Kenshin, and (2) his resemblance to a certain fox spirit, and brings the former reasonably and explainably into the modern period. Unfortunately since her site is down I can't link to said story at the moment. And I haven't actually got her permission yet... ah well, I'll ask when I pick her up in about an hour, and if she says no, I'll rewrite. That's what the backspace key is for, after all.

Had an awesome dream about the possibility of presenting the second YYH movie as a cosplay skit at Fanime next year. My brain was casting myself as Botan, [livejournal.com profile] hoshikage as Kurama, [livejournal.com profile] phaelin as Yukina, [livejournal.com profile] sandpanther as Hinageshi, Wonderful Husband as Kuwabara, Maria Tom as Hiei... unfortunately, I think my brain realized the unfeasability of this. Haven't seen Mari-chan in years, [livejournal.com profile] sandpanther will be too busy with con stuff, and that's still half the cast uncast. Still, it was a nice cosplay dream. Maybe I'll make myself a Botan costume for next year anyway and knock one off my long-time list.

But now to bake.

Had an honest-to-god anime dream last night for the first time in years. Am considering writing it, I just need to find some more information regarding transit between the Ningenkai and the Makai at the end of YYH and also bug Kurama just to tell me what this nifty thing he's after is. I've gotten a vague muttering about "the jewel of the sword, the jewel, and the mirror," but given that it's not the same one from the set that showed up in the series when he first did, I'm thinking that's just a popular trinity motif for Makai craftsmen and has been for, oh, the last several thousand years. Which still leaves me with nary a clue as to what the thing does. Must also find out what the fox statues at Inari shrines usually have in their mouths--the key and the sheaf of rice I remember, but are there other motifs as well?

Back to sewing. And then ironing and baking.
