Got petticoat #1 done last night. Tried it on, it fits and looks good, but I have determined that I will need to wear a slip with it. Nylon net is scratchy on the bare legs!

It's sunny and in the 70s today, so I'm spending the day gardening. Or at least hauling pots into new locations and generally tidying up the garden area. I bought a trellis and have woven the blackberry vines into it; much better. I also did the weekly pulling of the devil grass' resprouting attempts among my roses. As I keep digging down and pulling as much root system as I can, I hope it'll eventually give up. Or at least slow down. I've also been refreshing used potting soil and putting things in bigger pots: one rosebush, both jade plants, two gardenias, and two of the three rhubarbs thus far. One more rhubarb, and five or six strawberry plants to go....

Okay, cooled down enough now to go back outside. Once more unto the breach!

I've been going garden-crazy a bit myself, trying to get things done. DIdn't get my indoor starts started early enough again, but they're going and nearly all sprouted. And several are big enough that I had to take the tops off of the mini greenhouses.

I'm also trying to think of a lot of citrus uses! The oranges and grapefruits are for eating (by myself and a member of my gaming group, respectively), but that still leaves some limes, regular lemons, and meyer lemons... It's really too bad that I don't like marmalade. I've done a couple small bits of curd, but that takes a lot of expensive ingredients. And I've just made a mixed-citrus jam tonight. Will have to see how that does. (Every lick of the equipment after canning them tasted different, so the flavors are still somewhat distinct.) I'm thinking of maybe trying jelly next, using the meyer lemons... (Out of the five, they're the only ones that really have seeds, and you put the seeds in cheesecloth in the jam/jelly, to add a pectin boost.)

Hmm. We get a ton of lemons off our tree. It keeps getting more productive each year and the lemons are now as big as baseballs! I guess the tree likes being fed and watered. I make cordial (http://down---to---earth.blogspot.com/2009/08/processing-lemon-harvest.html). And once in a while sorbet (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/emeril-lagasse/lemon-sorbet-recipe/index.html). There's also pickled lemons (http://honest-food.net/2010/02/04/preserving-lemons/). Any of which should also be adaptable to other citrus fruit. And, of course, Tigress in a Pickle's website has a plethora of citrus recipes (http://hungrytigress.com/post-index/?preexpand=citrus#citrus)...
