So yesterday while retreating from Ikea, having purchased the pepparkakkor (gingersnaps) that will form the base of the pumpkin cheesecake for Thursday (yes, we are going fancy this year; one pumpkin cheesecake and one pumpkin pie), the radio ad said the word "Reventon." My ears promptly pricked up and actually paid attention to the rest of the ad, which is from the Los Angeles Auto Show, going through next weekend. They have the Lamborghini Reventon there. It is, in fact, the $1.8 million car's North American debut, even if they don't have the Tesla (very nice, relatively expensive new electric car). I, of course, am planning to go. This is not at all helping my desire to write fic, which currently I am having to tamp down with lots of yelling of "Must cook dinner! Must sew baby quilt! Deadlines! Ask me next week!" ^^;; (Said baby quilt, before anyone starts fishing, is for a friend, not me.) I also have translating UM 20 on my plate for this week. Not helping is finding out one key detail which changes rather a lot of the emotional landscape in Twin Terrors, and having the characters in Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger actually talking to me again.

What a coincidence. I too am planning on manufacturing a pumpkin cheesecake. Specifically, marble pumpkin cheesecake.

It occurs to me that you may be able to impart some wisdom to me. I've never marbled anything before nor have I seen it done. The recipe calls for mixing some of the filling with chocolate and spooning it onto the top of the cake, then to swirl it with a knife.

I get jittery when faced with the unknown (even though it just a friggin cheesecake), so I'm wondering if there's any particular technique to this, or is it really so simple that I'm missing the forest for the trees?

Hmm. Unfortunately, never having marbled something, I'm afraid I can't be of much help. Perhaps [livejournal.com profile] racerxmachina might? It seems a simple enough technique to me, but never having actually done it, I don't want to steer you wrong....

(And, marble pumpkin cheesecake sounds yummy! It is just like, half regular cheesecake and half pumpkin swirled together, or...?)

About a cup of the pumpkin cheesecake batter gets mixed with melted chocolate, and then spooned in on top of the regular batter, then swirl for effect.

I imagine it'll have a hint of chocolate along with the pumpkin. On advice of a co-worker, I also added in 1/8th tsp of fresh ground ginger for a little extra "kick".

I find myself jelous of the two of you, we never have pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving. But Mom's apple pie is to die for, so I guess I can't really complain huh?
