Plant Porn
Apr. 14th, 2008 07:23 amLast night after working in the community garden, I stopped by my parents' to deliver a square tomato cage to be used on the hard-up-against-the-north-fence volunteer tomato, and picked up some of their old gardening magazines. I've read through a few issues of California Gardener now, and have to say, the magazine is basically porn for gardeners. The pictures are so pretty, the plants and their writeups so nice that I want to go out and buy them now and have a garden that looks like this~ ...except for the part where my main focus for now is on vegetable and herb gardening and I don't have room for much anyway. Some year when we have a house with a yard, maybe. I also find that I'm enough of an organic gardener that I get uneasy when they recommend pesticides. This should not surprise me, though.
When I hit the article on English/Austin roses, though, one of the pictured varieties was called "Anne Boleyn." The absolute best my morbid imagination can do with that is that maybe it's a good cutting rose...? ^_^;;;
