Mild Sunburn
Apr. 13th, 2008 10:40 pmToday in gardening: gridding off the bed. This involved shoving tacks into the frame at 1' intervals. And one into my thumb. Then twine went around all the tacks. (During this process I ran out of tacks once and twine twice. Maybe I'm gifted?) Then a break (see below) and then back to the garden to actually put stuff in the ground. Today's planting total: six jalepenos, six habeneros, three bell peppers, five tomatoes, a dozen 'Silver Queen' corn. I also planted a pole bean seed next to each corn stalk, three pumpkin seeds, oregano seeds in with the peppers and basil seeds in with the tomatoes. Tomorrow, I transport the last three tomatoes over and transplant them, and put more seeds into the ground....
During my afternoon "break," Wonderful Husband and I went with my mother to see "Phantom of the Opera" at the performing arts center. It was interesting, and actually seeing it performed gave me some insight I hadn't had before on some of the characters. I probably should have gotten the program... ah well. I did find the infamous chandelier drop disappointing, but realizing for the first time that Phantom is essentially meta -- "theater commenting on theater" -- provided for interesting interpretations of various scenery gnawings.
