One piece down, three to go...

Finished the top for my Fuu costume last night. With luck (knock on wood) the rest of the costume will go easier. There's a pair of pants with minimal trim, a lined dress with trim around the hem, and a belt with a bow in the back. And, if I wanted to get technical, a pair of Arabian-esque pointed toe shoes. But those will depend on other projects because I can substitute black ballet slippers if time requires. Because I have to put Shinku back together and make at least two kimono (Wonderful Husband will be helping with that, we went and bought our fabric last night) as well in the next month. So, speed cosplay, which is not my norm.

Finished rereading the Earthsea trilogy and am feeling the need to purchase the other books in the universe. Also finished reading through my new Threads magazine and am feeling like making some summer wear. But projects first!

Shall we Cosplay?

I broke out my DVD of Shall We Dance? the other night to watch while hand-sewing. I wasn't surprised that the only trailer on it was for the American version. I was also not surprised that the only extra was for the making of the American version. (You'd think Miramax could have at least put on something about the version I /was/ watching, but nooo... not even the two scenes they deleted from the American release. Pfaugh!) That said, the movie itself was still wonderful, and I love it muchly.

And today, while talking with hoshikage about our costume plans, I popped over to eBay and lo and behold, there was the out-of-print print of my costume, with less than 45 minutes to go and no bidders! So now I've won auctions on that and one of the other prints in the series as well. And am coveting a limited-edition ceramic tile painting Nene Thomas has apparently done... do I want to pay ~$60+ for an 8"x10" tile? There are only fifty in existence....
