Dress finished! And hanging up in the closet and there will be pictures at some point, probably. I have also spent Far Too Much Of Today cutting felt, both for the Mushroom Project and small circles of the sticky-back felt to cover the forty-two bolts on the backside of my fabric shelving. Half of them have been applied now; I'll wrangle the other end of the shelving out to do the rest in the morning, and then the shelving can go in place and I'll finally be able to start decanting all my boxes of fabric where they belong. Which, incidentally, will free up floor space so that I can actually, y'know, lay out fabric and patterns to use up some of said fabric....

Master Plan. I haz it.

I am very pleased with the way the zipper has gone into the sundress, hand-sewn in and sandwiched between the fashion fabric and the lining. It looks very neat and tidy and the zipper tape won't be against my bare skin at any point. Now I just need to (1) find my hooks and eyes, (2) sew in said hook and embroider a thread loop/eye above the zipper, (3) knot the straps, (4) try on the dress and have Wonderful Husband pin the straps to their final length, (5) sew the straps in place, (6) hem the fashion fabric, (7) hem the lining, and (8) lint-roller the dress....

Yesterday Wonderful Husband and I went to the wedding of one of my friends. It was, as all weddings are, interesting in its own way. I found it amusing that despite the bride being a costumer she was wearing a purchased wedding dress. And also that I was in the same dress as the bridesmaids except in navy blue instead of red ([livejournal.com profile] racerxmachina, yes, the bridesmaid dress from your wedding; I've gotten a lot of use out of it!). It was a much more religious ceremony than most I've been to; the majority of my friends have had fairly secular weddings. The chapel was quite lovely, though, and the reception was pretty good as well. My only criticism, in fact, would be that the dance floor was only open to everyone for three songs before bouquet/garter tossing and cake cutting happened. It did open again later, but the music was too loud at that point and not what I'd consider danceable music. Still, wedding! ^_^ I hope the bride and groom have a long and happy life together.
