Botcon was... interesting. At once both more and less than I'd expected. I think I've been spoiled by fan-based cons, maybe? Among the highlights were getting to spend time with friends, both ones I'd met before and ones I hadn't, getting commended not only by Peter-the-voice-of-Optimus-Prime-Cullen for a question I asked during his panel but also by four separate people who'd been in line behind me, ending up with lots of writing inspiration, and getting to see a couple of clips of the upcoming film in a very, VERY plush theatre at Paramount. All I have to say is "oshit Devastator!" and "bad kitty Ravage!" I am going to be so, so very gleeful to see this film. Possibly enough so to do a midnight showing of it, which I've never done before. Anyone in the Orange County area interested?
I've planted three summer squash plants in the empty bed in front of the house... one's been doing okay all along and the other two are starting to look like they're rebounding. I also buried about a dozen sprouting potatoes between them and two have now broken the surface. Mulched all that today (Wonderful Husband: "...So that's what that smell was." Why am I the only person who likes the smell of cocoa mulch?) and dug up the two beds against the back to the house prepatory to digging some compost into them and planting vegetables in them as well. I excavated a completely buried, intact 6" clay pot from one of those beds. O.o;; Just a bit of WTH/WTF there.
Plus the third/most recent/final hiding spot/nest for the kittens has been discovered and hopefully tomorrow after work Wonderful Husband and I are going to capture them. Two of them are spoken for--one by my dad!--and the other four I'm going to give to the Orange County Animal Shelter, which has a very good fostering/adoption program. If anyone reading this wants a kitten, speak up by Saturday morning or lose your chance! I also received spay/neuter vouchers today, so it's time to start trapping my local ferals and stabilizing their colony's population.
