Title: A Regency Christmas
Author: various (Mary Balogh, Jo Beverly, Sandra Heath, Edith Layton, Laura Matthews)
Length: 351 pages
Vaguely recognizing a few of the names, I picked this anthology up for a quarter at a rummage sale. The cover art is... um, not Regency. In fact, it's distinctly Victorian. And this book was published in 1995. Guess what came out in 1995? Yeah, the BBC's seminal version of Pride and Prejudice.
In other words, this anthology was a rush job capitalizing on the popularity of the TV series.
And it reads like it.
Generally I like anthologies. You can usually find at least one story in them that resonates with you. In this case, however, not so much. A couple of the five stories have some redeeming qualities, but in the end, I wouldn't've paid more than a quarter for this. Fortunately, I didn't.
Verdict: Not Recommended
