Apparently I'm on a historical fantasy kick right now? But in my defense, I found this one at a thrift store yesterday.
And read it today. My main frustration with the Elemental Masters series is when and where does each volume fit into the chronology? I swear Lackey has to have a spreadsheet or three charting this out.
This story is based on The Steadfast Tin Soldier, and, based on a mention of King Edward's coronation, is set in 1901. It actually has one of the more frightening villains of the series, despite (or perhaps because) he is human, and an all-too-real threat. The book went down smooth and fast, and I very much enjoyed it.
Verdict: Recommended.
