This afternoon, Wonderful Husband and I went to Toys'R'Us. The particular store we went to is a combo with Babies'R'Us.

The toy half did, indeed, have many toys for sale.

The baby half? I saw not one single infant for sale.

I think they're engaging in false advertising.

Babies'R'us.

... Hmm...

You're right! They shouldn't be advertising that they have babies if the infants aren't available.

(Mind you, I think I was a CostCo buy. Or was it K'Mart/Target? Sears? It's been a while since my parents pointed out which store sold the warranty I came with. Never did work properly ;-)

My parents got me at Gemco. They went out of business in the 80's I think...

A store-chain no longer in existence?

At least you know there will NEVER be another you - and that you are one of a kind.

Me? Well, the store I came from is still going strong, so there is always the possibility of a trade-in for a more efficient model - if they are willing to take me back. (-:

Either way, there's always the danger of knockoffs, too. And while that danger used to be fairly negligible, the Chinese knockoffs are getting pretty good these days. ::glum::

Knockoffs. Sockoffs.
Those who care know the real deal.
Those who don't notice, were they really wanting the original or just the status in association?

So, the Chinese made stuff is getting to be as good as the originals? GASP! What happened to the All-American Product?
Wait, the one-of-a-kind fell to the wayside when people decided mass-produced phonies were more popular.

So, you're in good standing - Parents didn't wait for the cheep version to get on the market, and hated the inferior substitution.

I think my mom told me I was a Kmart blue light special. And I could be returned until I was twelve.

Blue Special, eh?

Cool - its nice to know I'm not the only one NOT dropped off by the stork or found under a cabbage plant.

And she didn't go to any ol' clearance item, or a random sale. Nope, she wanted the SPECIAL found only at K-Mart.
Returns good for first twelve years and only first twelve years? Ah, good investment. Obviously they kept you, so you are worth every penny.

Me? Not directly-off-the-rack, or designer item, but parents can be very picky about EVERYTHING!
Never settling for anything but the best. :-)

The Girl Scout cookies we got this year aren't made of Girl Scouts. ::pout:: Total ripoff.
