50 in '12: #20 + Movie Review
Dec. 9th, 2012 10:29 pmTitle: Agatha H and the Airship City
Author: Phil and Kaja Foglio
Length: 258 pages
To be honest, I had doubts that a novelization could live up to the comic.
I am very happy to say that I was wrong. Indeed, in some places this is a slightly superior version! At least for people like me who are word-oriented and like textual descriptions of what people are thinking and feeling.
Now, I must go reread the comic version to see how they match up!
Verdict: Recommended!
And, yesterday Wonderful Husband and I finally went to see The Dark Knight Rises. It was a matinee showing at the $2 theater. I know the general clientele of the cinema; I should not have been shocked that people were bringing their little kiddies to see the movie. Yet, sadly, I was. This is not a film for a six-year-old! Sometimes I don't know what people are thinking.
As for the movie itself, I'm happy to say that while it wasn't quite as good as The Dark Knight, it's definitely on my short list of "good threequels." It brings in characters from the first two films, ties up certain dangling threads, and at the same time is a good close to the trilogy, and at the same time a good launching platform for the Justice League movie. Slightly irked that Gordon didn't figure out things on his own, but OTOH I am really really enjoying drawing parallels between Blake and three of the (other) Robins. He's definitely got bits of Dick, Jason, and Tim in his character makeup. :)
