sakon76Finally hanging the Ikea Varde shelves. Got the two on the wall between living room and office (you know, the wall we had to completely demolish and then rebuild because for some reason the jackanapes who had this place before us demolished and rebuilt it themselves over the carpet) hung. We turned our efforts toward the third and last shelf unit, which is hanging on an outer wall.
Or, you know, which would be hanging on an outer wall except for the minor detail that that wall is apparently filled with bricks and cement up to a height of four feet. Presumably to have to do with the nonfunctional outdoor barbeque that was built onto (or, rather, into) the wall at some point.
We're going to have to fill the holes with spackle, let it dry, and put decorative non-weight bearing screws into the bottom four holes of the shelving unit. All the weight will have to be borne on the top four screws. So it's a good thing these are going to be DVD shelves rather than bookshelves....
