I have two new-ish coworkers, replacing Peggy, who retired. Diana I quite like; she and I have Japanese and gardening in common, so we can small-talk those. Glenna, despite being much closer to my age, I am far less sanguine about. She is extroverted where I am introverted, not all that detail-oriented, and perhaps a bit coarse. She complains near-daily about the single flight of stairs leading up to my desk/the filing room/the break room hurting her legs. And yesterday (since hers are acting up) she asked me what I take for my allergies.
I don't have allergies.
Why would someone assume, in the absence of any evidence, that another person has a condition?
On the other hand, some days I suspect I am perhaps a bit too much of an Austen character, prone as I am toward silence, stillness, good sense, and sensibility. So mayhap the flaw is in my expectations.

Date: 2012-09-20 04:21 pm (UTC)I'm sorry. Glenna sounds like the kind of person that makes an office prickly and uncomfortable.
