sakon76This morning I went to the compost giveaway and got a trashcan full for my parents and one for myself. On the way back I stopped at the thrift store again and the 401A was still there. And I'd made measurements the night before and, yes, it would perfectly replace the broken Touch'N'Sew. Clearly it was meant to be.
Except the thrift store's credit card machines were down, and I only had $3 in my wallet. Fortunately they were amenable to holding it for me.
I went home, dropped off compost, picked up my paycheck and a screwdriver, and went to the bank to deposit/withdraw. Back at the thrift store, their machines were still down, but now I had CASH! So into the truck the cabinet went, and homeward bound was I.
Except I'd forgotten that this afternoon was the Costume College packet stuffing, working which means you get to turn in your limited attendance requests immediately. So, borrowed Wonderful Husband's car and went to that for a couple of hours.
(...As a result, I now want once again to go to Costume Con. Grr.)
Came home and swapped old machine and new. Perfect fit! Except their foot pedals, which are non-exchangeable, do not fit into each other's cradles. Out come the screwdrivers; eventually out come the cradles.
Except their screws are in different places, and the battery for the (Craftsman) drill is apparently MIA, most likely attached to the (also Craftsman) flashlight... which is hiding.
Le sigh. Keep hunting and hopefully the battery will turn up and then I can deposit the cabinet I don't want at Goodwill, and return the truck, with compost and seedlings, to my mother tomorrow morning....
