I've been working on the prep stuff for my Costume College classes. Yes, it's four months away. But I need to do samples, write out handouts, and, once I find out how many students I'll have in my limited attendance classes, purchase materials for them.... (I will be teaching three classes this year, one on each day.)
Currently I'm working on a 1950s drawstring petticoat. It's for a tea-length skirt (which gets made up next) and is made from a four yard piece of white netting that I had on hand. It's sixteen yards of fabric at the hem. I have another four yards of green netting for another, and then what looks like most of a bolt of white. I'm being horribly tempted by the latter to do an Alice Lon nine-yard petticoat, which ends up something like forty-eight yards of fluffy, frothy net fabric at the hem....
It's a three-hour class. I need to streamline the process. This is my excuse for making multiple petticoats. :) I'm also tempted to try my hand at a silk organza petti, just so I know and can show the difference, but that would be a little more expensive. So we'll see.
