After watching more Gokaiger with

hoshikage this evening, I pulled up the first two episodes of Transformers: Rescue Bots.

Does anyone know what continuity this is supposed to be? Bayverse? Primeverse? Something entirely new?

Boulder is essentially Bulkhead. Blades, amusingly, is a direct opposite to his G1 counterpart, with G1 Silverbolt's acrophobia thrown into the mix. Chase is best described as uber-Prowl. Heatwave has a silly hat. Optimus Prime is, I think deliberately, being Not Helpful Prime. And I've dubbed Graham "Chip" for reasons that should be obvious.

I want to like the series. It has moments of cleverness. I'll give it more chances. I mean, it voices things like "They're alive. Should we really be riding inside them?" And it has (sort of) Dinobots in the first episode, which led to the brilliant exchange of "We're at X and Y, being chased by a dinosaur." / "Again?!"

But, really, all through episode 2 we were constantly pausing the video to facepalm and yell "Lava doesn't work like that!"....
