Just got an offer that if it came through might make AX Tokyo affordable for me. the problem is, there are problems lined up.

(1) I'm supposed to be getting married that month. I haven't got a set in stone date yet, but blocking off 1/14-1/20 because I'll be out of the country doesn't seem like a good idea.

(2) I'd be leaving my fiance for a week. There are visa problems involved and it'll be a while after we're married until he can leave the country.

(3) School starts on 1/9 for me. Granted, it's a Japanese cultural class, so the teacher may be understanding, but missing 2-3 days of Japanese 190 can't be good.

Still, I really really want to apply and go. :(

K-chan, sweetie, as someone who has been in two weddings and done a decent amount of work for each of them, let me offer you the following advice:

Do NOT plan another major event in the same month as your wedding!

I know AXTokyo sounds wonderful. I know you wish you could go; I wish I could go. But scheduling another major event, particularly one that involves you being out of the country, is not something you should do so close to your wedding. That last month is when all the details come together. It's also when all the major crises will happen (and trust me, they will). It's when you'll need to be in constant contact with all the components of the wedding (caterers, music, flowers, etc.), and being out of the country, even if you have an international cellphone, will make it really hard to be sure everything's going as planned. You will just make yourself crazy if you try to do anything else that month.

There will be other opportunities to visit Japan. There will only be one wedding. Stay home and make it special.

I know. I still wish I could go.

Damn it, why is my wedding getting so big and complex? I just want to get married.

Unfortunately, he has flatly refused to go to Vegas and get married there.
