Welcome to 2012
Jan. 1st, 2012 10:39 amIt felt so weird last night. This is the first New Year's in several years that I haven't spent ensconced in the wonderful book-filled home of
toothycat, celebrating the change of the calendar with Cambridge friends. Instead I spent yesterday sewing, finally finishing off my medieval gown, and started reading Snuff, Terry Pratchett's newest book. I've finally gotten to the meat of the story, and it's improved. To be honest, the thing that's giving me the most cognitive dissonance is the pastoral, bucolic setting. This is the Discworld. The equivalent of pastoral and bucolic is Lancre. Brain breaking. But now the action's on and it's getting better.
So, new year's resolutions. To go to the gym thrice weekly. To finish old projects and start (and finish) new ones. To make each month a concentration in one or another of the many artistic endeavors I pursue. To spend less time sitting blankly at the computer. To go to bed on time, get up on time, and go to work on time. To read more books, purge more dross, and purchase only that which is beautiful, useful, and good.
