Toy Story 3 on Ice
Dec. 23rd, 2011 11:17 amWent back to the Honda Center last night with my Wonderful Husband and inlaws, and we saw Toy Story 3 On Ice. Which was... hmm. On one hand it was odd because the first half barely dealt with the plot of the film, being mostly flashbacks to the first two films. On the other hand, the skaters were good, the music choices BRILLIANT, and the costumes... oh, I am so going to be scouring online for pictures of the Round-Up Gang costumes! We were only four rows off the ice, but unfortunately the camera had actually been taken out of my purse for a change and was sitting on the table at home. Grrr.
The storyline was a bit simplified. We never actually met Bonnie or her toys, only were told that Woody had. So no Totoro on Ice. Alas. Not that we were really expecting it. Ken's clothing montage was well handled, and they kept the "nice legwarmers"/"great ascot" exchange though, alas, Lotso's classic line about Ken being an accessory was dropped. There were also the presence of two mice, a duck, and a... whatever Goofy is... as a framing device. So basically, they were mashing up for-the-kids and for-the-adults with a lot less subtlety than the actual film did.
Still, an enjoyable way to spend an evening, so if it comes near you and you have the money and inclination, it's likely worth a watch.
