When we got our windows replaced, they of course took out the old ones first. For the mobile windows (sliders and the crank-operated outward openers) this was not a problem. For those panels which were stationary, however, the method of removal apparently involved punching through the glass. Which meant, no matter how careful the crew tried to be, that a few glass shards ended up on the floor of each room. Those first few days, we were never barefoot, and the house got a thorough sweeping except for the back bedroom, as it wasn't finished yet.

During my cleaning spree of the back bedroom today, I was mostly shod, and swept carefully. But now it feels like I have a very fine splinter in the base of my foot. Except when I look for it, and feel for it, there's nothing there.

Psychosomatic splinter?

I've gotten those before, usually in my hand from doing gardening work without gloves on. (I hate wearing gloves for gardening, I want to feel the dirt dangit!) They're absolutely horrible. Try washing your foot with soap? That usually helps me.

Ah, thank you for the tip! It seems to've worked.

(And, yeah, I hate gardening with gloves too.)

Nope, just extremely fine. I got one in my foot years after we had the windows replaced, and it took a week for me to find it. Actually, Jay found it using a hand lens because I was sobbing that my foot hurt. It was tiny! So...it might be real!

Probably not psychosomatic. I just got one removed from my hand that the doctor could almost not see even using magnifiers, but I sure could feel. It should come out on its own eventually, but isn't necessarily fun until it does.
