So those who have been to my house have seen my fabric shelves, which are essentially three Ikea DIY shelf kits. They take up most of a wall, roughly seven feet high, eight feet across, and two feet deep. They are currently somewhat sloppily crammed with fabric, patterns, corset boning and hooping steel, tins of buttons, zippers, and whatever vaguely crafty things I've put on them. The collection meanders about a foot or two out in front of the shelves in various plastic tubs and the like. In short, I have too much craft crap, and the stuff I donated to the Costume College Bargain Bazaar didn't even make a dent.
Wonderful Husband and I have come to an agreement today. Specifically that if I can limit my craft and sewing stuff to that set of shelves, I can get whatever I want to fill them. (At the moment, I am going through a bout of vintage sewing machine lust; thus I came up with this compromise to try to curb my wants.)
So what this means is that it's time for me to reorganize, use up, or donate what's on the shelves, and consolidate my various scattered craft items into that one place. This... will take a while. I know what I'm going to be doing this weekend. This is also part of why that secret sewing project got done, and why this evening I've been cutting up the jersey mesh (the kind they use for team shirts for sports like basketball and football, or at least they did at my high school) I got from the bargain table at Costume Con and sewing it into a trio of laundry bags. (Decades of Style's Butterfly Blouse has two very long ties that tend to get tangled up in whatever else is in the washer/dryer at the time. Wonderful Husband calls these my tentacle blouses and has requested that I make a few larger bags for them to go into in the wash.)
