Botcon, Day 3 / Wrapup
Jun. 6th, 2011 09:48 amThe thing about driving in from home meant that I was getting to the con 10:30ish most mornings, due to dealing with varying RL things in addition to the con. Unfortunately on Sunday that meant that I missed the cutoff for getting into Arlene Banas' only autograph session. So sad! OTOH, I spent the time in line for the panel room with many of my previously-mentioned awesome friends of awesomeness. And once we were in the panel room, I pulled laptop-chan back out and sat quietly writing through the panel on the creative process of making Transformers: Prime (Panel keywords: juicy! cheesy! cheeseburger! as in, the stuff they couldn't tell us about was like a really good cheeseburger, but they still couldn't tell us about it so they just used those keywords. My god, even the people behind the scenes of my fandom are so dorky.) and the G1 voice actors panel. (Paul Eiding either wasn't attending the con on Sunday or decided to keep away from that panel lest he get dragged onstage again.) The highlight of the latter panel (at least to me) was the question of whether or not any of the GoHs had done (portrayed) Decepticons in G1, to which Michael McConnohie's reply (in Tracks' voice) was "As to whether or not I've done (had sex with) any of the Decepticons, that's absolutely none of your business!" ROTFLMAO. You know there's going to be fanfic of that now.
But the result of a couple hours writing is that chapter 9 of Summer Jobs is 3/4 done. And also I managed to snag Marty Isenberg and ask him to autograph my TFA season 1 DVDs. ^_^
Had lunch with people at Rubio's across the street from the con, scurried back into the dealer's hall and got a couple freebies, then hung around chatting for a few hours afterward in various locations. One was the lobby of the Sheraton which, interestingly, is apparently where the Virgin Atlantic crews stay and has been so for the past six years. (A flight of them arrived while we were all chatting; I asked.) Morgan Lofting got a round of applause as she went through the lobby; I think she'll come back if asked. ^_^ Part of what I love about the Transformers fandom and Botcon is that we're all so in love with the GoHs (particularly the voice actors; the writers we are more inclined to critique and engage in critical discussion with) and they totally don't expect that and get hooked on it and so they want to come back, and them coming back to the con again and again makes us love them even more.
Eventually we split up,
tainry to the airport,
femme4jack to her friend's, and a group of nine of us to Wild Thyme restaurant for one last group meal. Knowing I was to be taking
okami_myrrhibis and
lady_katana4544 to the airport, as well as
hoshikage back to my place, I'd borrowed Wonderful Husband's car as it's larger than mine. I also ended up giving
autumnconstance, who lives further south in Orange County, a ride home, so it all ended up rather tight and unfortunately people ended up needing to hold small suitcases on their laps. :( But it all worked out in the end and everyone got everywhere they needed to go.
And now I need to finish up Summer Job, finish up the sequel before DotM comes out, and then deal with the requests I got for (1) more Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger, (2) the sequel to The Boy in the Box, and (3) the Teatime Ninjas series I happened to mention to people.
