sakon76This morning I spent in the way I frequently spend Saturday mornings: going around to local estate sales after my bellydance class. A bit of novelty was added by the presence of not only my mother but my mum-in-law as well! We all had a good time, buying varying levels of things. (Mom: three items; Mum-in-Law: none; me: I take the Fifth.) My big steal was an, mm, not quite obscene number of canning jars, but let's guess in the range of about 80 of them, for $10. Half went home with my mother. My interesting purchases were a 1934 agricultural college yearbook ($6) and a blue glass liter Ball canning jar with zinc lid ($5). I usually won't pay over a dollar each for jars, but the liter jars are hard to find and around $4+tax at thrift stores. Let alone a blue glass one! With a zinc lid!
Part of the agony with estate sales is that sometimes I see really really nice furniture that I would love to own, for fabulous prices... and have no need for it. That being said, I am highly tempted to go back to that first sale tomorrow and see if they still have that Waterfall buffet for $95....
