Feeling much improved after eight hours of sleep. Though I dread to think what I'm going to be investigating when I get back home. Wonderful Husband, coming to bed an hour later than myself, reported that one of the cats, on her way into a cozy spot in the fabric shelves (which needs to be filled with something from one of the higher shelves; a problem coming from having used up fabric), had knocked over one of my sewing boxes. One of the kind that accordians open. He picked up the pins, but I just know everything in it's a mess. :(

After our massive amount of gardening on Saturday (5 paths properly papered; 2 to go) we went to see Thor. Which was not as bad as we'd feared but not quite as good as we'd hoped either. Iron Man 2 level, rather than Iron Man 1 level? Our main problem, I think, was Loki. His motivations were inconsistent even in hindsight. I'm kind of hoping they don't go the easy, obvious route of villainy with his character in The Avengers. I did, however, really like Anthony Hopkins as Odin. He reminded me very much, in a very good way, of Marlon Brando as Jor-El in the first Superman film. Overall, Thor is definitely worth a watch. And not just for the eye candy. :)

Prefacing the film, we got trailers for Immortals (could be 300-good, could be Clash of the Titans-dire), Captain America (will see, regardless), Super 8 (Spielberg '80s kids / horror movie? I'm intrigued at the least...), and... Green Lantern. Which I would like to like, but which unfortunately is making me think "Great, it's a whole FILM about Johnny Storm." And I didn't like The Human Torch in the Fantastic Four movies. I kind of want to see GL anyway, just for Oa. And who knows, maybe it'll be better than its trailer....

ETA: We also got a trailer for Columbiana. Which is "from the creator of La Femme Nikita." IE, a total rehash. I saw and liked both the original and the American remake of that movie, but the trailer for Columbiana was just painful to watch. Will not see.

I have yet to see Thor (last two weeks of school- yippie) but I agree with the GL movie for only slightly different reasons. I never watched the FF movies (and happy never to) but man am I ever sick of Hal, everything I've seen of him in the comics annoys me so much. But I'll go see it just for Kilowog and the other GLs. And I'll hope it does well enough for a sequel in hopes they get the other human GLs in there- either Guy or John since I think they'd better contrast Hal than Kyle would.

I was wondering if Thor is worth the ticket price, but if it's on the level of IM2 (Oh gee, I'll surprise everyone by being kind of a jerk! They'll never suspect ME of THAT!) it sounds like it's okay to wait. There's Pirates of the Caribbean to think about!
