Now that I'm out from under major major I'm-not-the-only-one-screwed-if-I-don't-finish-in-time sewing stress, I've started back in on fic writing. Because if nothing else, I want to get the Simulacra universe wrapped up before seeing Transformers 3. So I'm a couple scenes into the next chapter of Summer Job at the moment, and have Sam making very quiet "Oh." noises of realization as he begins to get an idea of what needs to happen in the final story in the series.

(Quasi related: the word of the day, boys and girls, is "catacombs." Can you say it with me? "Catacombs." Very good! I knew you could....)

But what this also means is that a lot of nascent plotbunnies for other series are also gently testing their teeth on my ankles. One of them is post-movie stuff for Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Another is a crossover between various postmortem films, and that's the one that's actually giving me problems at the moment.

You see, there's Ghost. Which begs at me to do some kind of post-movie Molly and Ida Mae friendship story, especially since Molly also now can hear ghosts. And then there's The Sixth Sense, where I think Cole could use meeting someone else who can at least hear (if not see) the dead. And then there's a newer off-the-wall inclination to drag Beetlejuice and an older Lydia into this mix. The problem is, how can I make the backgrounds of these three universes play well together? The Sixth Sense is pretty clear about the dead not knowing they're dead, where Ghost is the opposite. Maybe only some of the dead are self-aware? I can work with that, kinda. Maybe. Dragging Beetlejuice in, however, involves its entire glorious bureaucracy of the afterlife, which doesn't jive at all with the other two. But Lydia is such a wonderful character.... ;_; I suppose I should toss the Beetlejuice cross out of the mix. BJ would cross far better with the Casper movie. Which was also fun.

(And this kind of consideration of the structures of the universes is why my crossovers may be crack in concept but usually work.)
