Title: My Favorite Fantasy Story
Author: Edited by Martin H. Greenberg
Length: 423 pages
Okay, this one took me a long time to get through. Mainly because I had to stop and completely reset my brain for each new story. There was no common style (as a single-author anthology would have) nor a common theme (beyond "good fantasy"), which meant I was ending up with brain bruises from being jarred between universes.
That said, the stories in this book are good. They're selected by very fantasy good authors, most of whom I've read, and the stories they picked ranged from obscure to relatively well-known, from macabre to whimsical. It says something, though, that I've only read something by two of their selected authors (Dickens and Pratchett). I now have a whole new list of writers whose work I should track down.
Verdict: Highly recommended. This one has earned its place on my bookshelf.
