Recovery + Movie
Jan. 13th, 2011 05:21 pmSedation was like a nice nap, which pleased me as I hadn't wanted to be awake-but-numbed for the dental surgery. And I came out of the sedation nice and fast.
At this point my tongue and most of my lower jaw have ceased resembling slabs of unfired clay. Seriously, the t-shirt got almost as much of the milkshake as I did, and I couldn't even feel it spilling down my chin. Highly creepy, and gave me a new sympathy for stroke victims.
Spent the afternoon on the sofa rewatching Labyrinth. Parts of it were very "WTF".... A lot of the SFX doesn't hold up to time. Specifically the scene with the Fireys. And it was quite Muppetish in the "random song and dance sequence!" way. I'd forgotten that Sarah started the film as such a... a... teenager! I wanted to slap her in the beginning. Part of my hindbrain is pondering what a remake, with today's CG tech and slightly subtler storytelling ways, might be like. Then I try to imagine anyone but David Bowie as Jareth, and my train of thought screeches to a halt, because I just can't.

Date: 2011-01-14 06:07 am (UTC)I, however, had no ambitions to run across a parp. This may be partially due to having no birthday party to attend later. And to being (somewhat intentionally) shy on sleep last night so that a good portion of this afternoon was spent dozing.

Date: 2011-01-14 08:07 am (UTC)I had two molars yanked some years ago, and the numbness migrated up the side of my head and across my scalp. Weird! ::sends warm fuzzy blanket and Jareth to sing you to sleep:: ^_~
