Longer, Smoother Fanfic
Jan. 7th, 2011 09:11 pmHaving regained access to my ff.net account since Wonderful Husband upgraded my computer to include a new browser that ff.net hasn't phased out, I decided to start posting there again. Specifically, I posted "Spline" there today, as it was short, easy to apply the few edits I decided to make, and I wanted to dip my toes into that fandom there.
Now, with all of my Tron fiction I've been relying very heavily on Wonderful Husband and both halves of
I got a review that, among other things, urges me to "Please reticulate more!"
This makes me blink and have to consult Wonderful Husband, since the closest my brain comes to is a cross between articulate (to speak or write clearly) and reticule (a small purse). To reticulate a spline is apparently to make a complex curve into a more simplified one.
...I choose to take this to mean that the person would like future longer fanfic from me, not future simpler fanfic. Because the other way is just insulting given that it's a pretty simple fanfic as it is.
(Assuming I'm choosing the right interpretation, I hope they'll be pleased. Spline is the shortest thing I've written in rather a long time. But for now my feral fanfic writer hindbrain wants me to not post the longer Tron pieces on ff.net until I get to read Betrayal and check for world errors; with Spline, I skimmed enough to see Betrayal started after when I set the story, so I wasn't worried. OTOH, I'm reviving a character I'm pretty sure is dead in canon, so the hindbrain is also saying "What are you worried about, Grig? Theoretically we should already be dead!" The hindbrain is quotative like that.)
