Stealing Time
Jan. 4th, 2011 12:04 pmBed at ten, awake at four-thirty, up at five was glorious. In the sense of three uninterrupted hours for us to do stuff before I needed to leave for work. Luggage unpacked! The most vital of laundry done! Swedish pancakes for breakfast! Time to make an actual sandwich for lunch, from the bread I started last night! And inspecting the garden after the sun had come up, which led to both positive and negative discoveries. On one hand, flowering paperwhites and carrots and leeks both having sprouted. On the other hand, knee-high weeds on a couple of the aisles, and tomatoes and borage trying to take over the world.
Unfortunately getting up that early is going to be unsustainable after our bodies adjust back to this time zone. But still, maybe I'll try adjusting the clock to a wakeup time of six, and see how that goes.
ETA: Dammit. Persistent dry cough. I blame the airplane.
