Got through the tapestries scene, wherein Marin showed a certain unexpected ruthlessness (though it should not surprise me given what she did with the bandits way earlier in the book) as well as a certain financial pragmatism that I also find interesting. Her relationship with wealth... at once surprises me and yet at the same time doesn't. I suspect a little of what she noted about the abbess was related to my over the years having obsessively watched the 1982 version of The Scarlet Pimpernel. Specifically the moment where Percy says to Chauvelin "I'm surprised you didn't notice their ill-fitting uniforms. But then, fashion never was your forte." Up to page 150 and chapter 21.
