Last night I started in on some much-needed garden tidying. This involved tearing out four non-productive tomato plants as well as tossing a bell pepper and three Brussels sprouts plants that were never going to get beyond a few inches high. Fallen cornstalks were pruned out and also chopped up into the compost bin, all the garden beds were watered, and eight small tomato plants were upgraded into gallon pots. Unfortunately one of the tomatoes had a badly faded tag so I don't know what it is! (Purple Sharpie has now been removed from plant labelling kit and replaced with a black one.) Seven more tomatoes to pot up to gallon size and that's done. And then I did the dishes. :) And cleared an episode of White Collar off my to-watch list. And picked up my repaired car.

Tonight or tomorrow I need to give my potted plants some TLC. The lemon balm's about done in so I need to pull that, which'll give me a free pot for playing a round of repotting the various mints. I'm also planning to plant the purple iceberg rose along the new path, and possibly the red geranium as well. (Not as sure about the latter.) The red onions have been pulled and left to cure; I ought to braid them up this weekend, and then replant their area with some of the tomatoes currently in gallon pots. Which means I need another couple stakes and maybe two more cages. Plus more tomato ties. Harvesting the potatoes also needs to happen sometime soon....
