Aug. 24th, 2003 01:03 amJust watched X episode 16. Have formed several conclusions.
(1) If I ever have the opportunity to get together with several friends (with N-chan most decidedly among them) and mock anime, this has got to be among the titles watched.
(2) Seishirou is a twit.
(3) Subaru is a moody bastard in need of prozac.
(4) Seishirou's eyes are amber/brown. Kamui's are purple. Subaru's are green. Canon is being fooled with.
(5) Cramming two major events into one episode and leaving no angst time in between takes away the impact of both.
(6) Still... better than X the Traffic Accident.
(7) Seishirou is a twit. This bears repeating.
(8) Want the manga to pick up again so I can get the rest of the real story. Unless it's a disappointing ending, in which case the real ending may lie in fanfiction.

Date: 2003-08-24 07:36 am (UTC)2) Seishirou is a big twit. Granted, a good-looking and fascinating twit, but a twit all the same.
3) Subaru in anime needs a slap on the head. Manga Subaru still needs a slap on the head, but at least he doesn't sit around in his apartment for weeks after Seishirou's death.
4) ...someone please explain to me why the colours were played with? I can live with Kamui going from purple to gold, I got used to Seishirou's change, but Subaru and Hokuto ... *argh* they are supposed to be /twins/ identical twins, and have pretty emerald eyes *gah*
5) *sigh* completely agree here - even for me the episode lacked impact, and Sei-chan's my favorite character. Then again, in the anime I was expecting it, whereas in the manga I had no idea they were going to kill off Seishirou >.<
6) Traffic accident?
7) *affecitonately bangs Sei-chan's head into the wall again*
8) Given what I heard, there's three different endings for X: one where everyone except Kamui dies (movie), one where Kamui dies (anime) and the manga is supposed to have something different again. Until then (or even after if it's a bad ending) fanfiction will have to do ^^V
(hey, I'm getting the hang of the lj thing!)

Date: 2003-08-24 12:11 pm (UTC)The affectionate nickname several of us have given to the X movie because watching it is like watching a traffic accident. Everyone dies as you continue to watch with this strange kind of fascination....

Date: 2003-08-24 11:56 am (UTC)I haven't seen all the anime (must dig up discs and see if the DVD player can handle Divx), so I don't know how they ended it. Manga hasn't gotten an ending yet, but I suspect it'll be horrible, leaving everyone dead except one or maybe two people. Certainly everyone I like is doomed.
(6) Still... better than X the Traffic Accident
Watching paint dry is better than the Traffic Accident.
Well, I've already written my own version of how things end. It's been blown completely out of the water by the death of a certain perfectly good young wind-master, but it's my story and I'm sticking with it. :)

Date: 2003-08-25 09:42 am (UTC)Subaru is a lot easier to take in the manga. The anime cuts out almost all of his interactions with Kamui, which give the character a tad more depth. (Since I'm a SubaruXKamui fangirl, all those shonen ai hints hitting the cutting room floor was a *big* loss to me).
But, yes, for all its problems (time compression, too much time wasted on character back/side stories, a jaw-droppingly bad ending) XTV is YARDS better than that godawful movie.
