CC Roommies... Or Not.
Mar. 26th, 2009 11:27 amYesterday was another "please tell me this day is over" day, started (not finished, mind you, started) by one of my theoretical roommates for Costume College telling me that the third roommate only wanted one roomie... so I now have no roommates. No one else I know is going (to my knowledge; please speak up if you are) and I am not comfortable rooming with people I don't know. So I get to decide whether I'd prefer to commute an hour to an hour and a half each way for three days, or pay $212+fees/taxes for my own room for the weekend. Which I know is not that great of a sum, compared to other cons, but I'm just... hurt? angry? by the callousness of this, even though I can understand ex-roommates' motivations. (One of them gets the room comp'ed so the other won't have to pay anything to room with her.)
Today, I have decided, is going to be better.... I will make it so.

Date: 2009-03-26 09:24 pm (UTC)This reminds me of the time my four-bedroom apartment in Brooklyn got sold as a condo. Three of us agreed to look for a three-bedroom place together (the fourth roommate was a psychopath, but that's a whole other story). I started looking, found some listings. Roommate #3 decided he wanted to find a place on his own. So I started over, looking at two-bedrooms. Roommate #2 dithered for about a week, then finally told me she wanted to find a place by herself.
Now I had about a week to find a place to live on my own. Luckily I was able to find someone out in Jersey City who needed a roommate, or I would have been seriously screwed by those folks.
Here's hoping you can find someone else, and that tomorrow is better.
