Seed Catalogs...
Feb. 2nd, 2009 10:57 pmSo this year I am venturing beyond the safe waters of the Burpee catalog into uncharted territories. For the most part I've been fascinated and illuminated by the catalogs I've received, adding a number of things I'd like to try growing to my always-too-long list. Seed Saver's Exchange is quite nice, as is the one whose provenance I forget that my mother's currently borrowing from me. Less good is The Cook's Garden, though it has the saving grace of being the only catalog thus far to have dandelion seeds and watercress seeds. Also unfortunately less satisfactory is the one I received today, Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds, which has a lot of interesting varieties... but pictures of only half of them and not much in the way of sun requirements, zone appropriateness, or days to harvest information. :/ There's some stuff I'm interested in from them as well, but it's going to take doing homework to figure it out....
