Ha. Finally found a title for this thing. Had to go to the 1978 Superman movie for it. ^_^ But oh it so fits. And, given that Marty's ships are usually described as looking like "a rather small green automobile," I just couldn't resist.

Professor Blow led them through the minor warren of hallways that the government somehow thought was easily navigable, whistling a cheery tune until their procession (and here Sam couldn't help but thinking of a pair of ducklings following a mama duck) exited the bulletproof glass double doors. The impression of ducklings was not helped any when a cheery yellow Camaro sitting in the parking lot texted him an inquiry and, following Sam's helpless shrug, fell in line behind them as they all headed out toward the airfield.

The Professor kept glancing skyward, probably expecting to catch a glimpse of his friend's plane, Sam thought as they came to a stop in the shade of one of the hangars.

Bumblebee transformed and knelt down behind them, also taking advantage of what shade there was from the unrelenting June sun. "What are we doing?" he stage-whispered.

"Waiting for a friend of the Professor's to arrive," Sam replied.

Epps checked his watch. "Should be another fifteen minutes or so," he guessed.

Bumblebee looked puzzled. "No one has contacted the base to request guidance or landing procedures...."

Professor Blow smiled up at the alien. "Marty wouldn't," he said calmly. "Any more than you did when you arrived."

Epps' eyes widened. "You mean he's..." he asked incoherently, index finger circling in the direction of the sky.

The Professor grinned. "Direct from Martinea," he agreed pleasantly. His brown eyes studied both Sam and the Sergeant. "Tell me, are either of you Scouts?"

Epps shook his head but Sam nodded. "Never went for Eagle the way my Dad wanted me to, but... yeah, I was in the Scouts."

A sly, quick, there-and-gone-again grin. "So was I. So's Marty."

Sam blinked. "They have Boy Scouts on other planets?"

"Well... not really." The Professor's fingers tapped on the blue-silver wire badge. "He kind of got adopted into Troop 333, same as me, the summers we spent at my Grandma's place, and went from there. Marty's big on Scouting."

Sam cast a speculative glance at his guardian-cum-friend. "Hmm." His train of thought was cut short, however, by Professor Blow looking sharply up and smiling.

"Right on time," the man said, just as a blazing white-hot star detached itself from the heavens and fell toward the base.

Bumblebee's hurried transmission of "Incoming!" served to wrench the three other Autobots away from their tasks and bring them running to the airfield, sundry humans hot on their heels.

The alien ship's ship descent was nearly perfectly perpendicular to the surface of the Earth; it was obviously aiming for a pin-point landing, unlike what Bumblebee and later the rest of Optimus' squad had had to settle for when they arrived on Earth. It was precise, graceful, easy... accustomed.

Well, not that they hadn't already known that Professor Blow was in contact with other planets. And Martinea did have a certain reputation for pacifistic exploration.

The spaceship landed in a small cloud of dust and condensation in the form of mist, which rapidly dispersed. There wasn't even the ticking of heated metal to show that it had just undergone a rapid descent through a rather frictive atmosphere. And the spaceship looked like....

Lennox, catching up with the Autobots, raised an expressive eyebrow. "Well, that's different," Mikaela agreed.

The Martinean ship looked like nothing so much as a Mini Cooper S in British Racing Green.

"How, precisely, is that 'different'?" Ratchet inquired.

Mikaela smiled charmingly. "Comparatively?" she asked, and held her right thumb and index finger very close together. "It's tiny."

His squadmates were definitely picking up Earth culture nicely, Bumblebee thought as Ironhide started laughing, if they were already "getting" size jokes.
