Title: 1635: The Cannon Law
Authors: Eric Flint and Andrew Dennis
Length: 420 pages
Finally I feel like this series has hit its stride. This is a good book. It follows directly on from The Galileo Affair in plot, timeline, and publishing sequence, all of which I feel help its coherency. It keeps a fairly tight focus on its main set of characters, a mostly central geography, and a strong storyline. This is the one that makes me WANT to read a sequel as opposed to "oh, well, I checked the whole series out of the library so I should read them all." I'm really really hoping that the authors are working on the direct sequel that the end hints at, though to be honest its ending can stand as a finish too.
Verdict: highly recommended!
