sakon76Sam was busy taking his Chemistry final when Edward Blow, Ph.D., one of the top minds at NASA and apparently Keller's golden boy to be the American scientific liason to the Cybertronians, was introduced to the Autobots, but he heard plenty about it two days later when (finished with finals) he reported to base to start his summer job/internship as cultural liaison.
"I swear, he wasn't phased by them at all," the Tech Sergeant swore over paperwork and two plastic glasses of cooler water. "Just got out of the car, took a few steps forward, and did a turn, palms up. Wierdest thing is, the 'Bots got all quiet and then did the same thing."
"Sounds freaky," Sam commented, filling in his SSN in blue ballpoint pen. "So did you ask about it?"
"Hell no, that's what you're supposed to be for," Epps retorted.
A sigh sounded from the doorway behind them. "If you don't ask questions, how will you ever learn things?" Sam turned his head and looked over his shoulder at the smiling elderly man behind him. He was dressed in slacks and a dress shirt, with a bag slung over one shoulder. A gleaming pin of twisted silver wire decorated his breast pocket. Round glasses framed dark eyes, and smile lines at his eyes and mouth indicated a near-permanent good humor. "Liaison Sam Witwicky, I assume."
"Uh, yeah." Sam hastily put the pen down and shook the older man's hand in a surprisingly firm shake.
"Nice to meet you. Everyone's had good things to say about you. I'm Professor Edward Blow, by the way."
Sam snuck a glance back at Epps. "So... since I'm supposed to ask things, then, what was that thing he was talking about?"
The professor smiled, mischief lighting his eyes. "That, my young friends, was the BahweepGrahnaweepninibang, otherwise known as the Universal Greeting. I learned it on the planet Martinea when I was thirteen."

A/N: I read Louis Slobodkin's "Spaceship Under the Apple Tree" quintet rather a lot when I was a kid and have since purchased my own copies (still looking for the Bixxy's Secret Message book which is a prequel story that also has Eddie in it), and after taking inspiration for the title of "Apple Tree" from them, my brain began fermenting this crossover. The Universal Greeting fits, as does the Bamboozelurgical metal three of Marty's spaceships feature....
