Manager brought in some of his squash today so I took a few, then I stopped at the garden on the way home and harvested a few of my own as well. Mine are younger and softer than his. Zucchini can grow to baseball bat size... that doesn't mean it should. And in the process of harvesting, I gave myself a papercut (okay, squash plant cut) on the tip of my right ring finger. *points wordlessly at header*

Oversized squash is ICKY. Get to it while it's still small and tender!

There's always at least one zucchini that hides under the leaves and grows to gargantuan size, in my experience. Monster zucchini are decent if you grate them up and make them into zucchini bread, which is what my mom used to do with them.

I'd go with the "hiding" theory except that he always brings in the monster zucchini. Every time. Every year.

And, yes, lots of zucchini bread on the horizon. ^_^
