The usual tea-sensei source not having the knowledge I need, I throw the question out to my pool of friends at large (some of whom are also tea-senseis).

Last weekend I bought one of those nifty Japanese cast iron teapots on the basis that the store was having a 40% off going-out-of-business-type sale. I am left wondering, though, do I have to worry about the interior of the teapot rusting? I know I'm not to use it to heat the tea, merely to serve it, but is there anything else I should know about it?

I've been wondering about traditional iron-pot serving style myself. I'd say check to make sure the inside of the pot is enameled-- that is the usual way to ensure it won't rust with any sort of iron cookware.
