Survived Thanksgiving. Food was good; family was better. The turkey got named "Donner" and my vegetarian sister's not-a-turkey got named "Harvey." :) Turned in Christmas list, as mandated by family rule. Have fridge full of leftovers, as does my mother. Came home early, went to bed more or less on time, and got up at the alarm, being one of the few (if in fact not only) person in my family who has to work today.
During the process of cooking I ended up debating (again) whether or not certain items would aid enough in the kitchen to be worth their shelf space. Specifically a mushroom brush (which I can substitute a soft, dry clean dishrag for in use) and a food processor (which for small amounts I can substitute my one-cup mortar). Currently they remain on my "no" list. Am also still pondering on upgrading pots and pans to the very expensive to-last-a-lifetime All-Clad stuff. I know it's something Wonderful Husband and I will invest in at some point; whether that's soon or years from now, though, is the question. I suppose I need to decide somewhat sooner on whether or not to take that baking class Thursday over at Sur La Table, as it doesn't seem to repeat in December or January. Unfortunately, there aren't any really appealing January classes to me to add to my Christmas list... the one that sounds best to me is a Thai cooking class, but I've cooked Thai before. Which of course doesn't mean I wouldn't learn a slew of new stuff, but it potentially lessens the "overcoming the intimidation" factor that drew me to the sushi class and the is drawing me to the breadmaking class.
Ah, but now it is time to go to work. Bye~!
