On Creative Processes
Oct. 10th, 2007 11:19 amSometimes I think I'd like a laptop computer or other portable writing device. While this thought is often due to convenience, so that I could be writing during otherwise "lost" time and not have to transcribe it from a notebook later, recently this has come to be because I realize I do my best, most creative problem-solving and line-inventing while in bed settling down to sleep. However, I realize that getting a laptop or anything to solve this problem wouldn't be a good idea because then I wouldn't be going to sleep. And sleep? Sleep is good, and sacred, and necessary. So the best I can do is try to jam the thought(s) firmly enough into my head that they'll still be there, ready to be written out, when I wake up. I like it when that methodology works....
