Jul. 19th, 2007 08:37 amSo I dug out the 20th Anniversary Edition of the first Transformers: The Movie last night, curious as to what the "movie trailer and special sneak peek" for the new movie were. My answer: largely disappointing. It's the first teaser trailer (the one with the Beagle 2 rover) and a brief promo clip that really didn't show me anything new. So then, since I had the disc in my computer anyway, I played the movie in the background while working on other things.
I've heard some fans of the new movie hating the old one, but I really can't. Granted, being twenty-plus years old at this point, it's not as shiny, but... I think it's somehow purer. Not as realistic, maybe, but almost more Spielbergian, even though he had nothing to do with it? If that makes any sense. I think that if Optimus is the character in the TFs-verse that I respect the most, Hot Rod/Rodimus is the one I love most. And I think of all the characters to show up in the next two live-action movies, I'd vote for Springer. Just because Springer is cool. Triple-changers rock.
(And, soooo happy that Arcee and Blurr are going to show up in the new cartoon series voiced by their original actors [Susan Blu and John Moschitta respectively] as will Wreck-Gar, voiced by Weird Al Yankovic. That is the best way possible to get me to watch it, since I haven't really liked any of the TFs cartoons that I've seen since Beast Wars.)

Blurr is for the win. :D I wonder what his alternate form will be.
