So this weekend was AX. It actually hit at a fairly bad time for me, coming off a bout of depression plus hitting at the exact time of month when my ovaries decide to do their business. At least this month, unlike last, they didn't incapacitate me. So between those two events and not having been able to finish a new costume, I was not going into this with the best of mindsets. (Sleeves on said costume have been ripped apart and fixed and are now finally working, BTW.)

I was slated to judge costumes Saturday night at the Masquerade Ball, which I did (that was rather a lot of fun, actually... my fellow judge and I independently came up with the exact same "Best Craftsmanship" and the best four male costumes in the same order and the exact same best four female costumes, though not in the same order... she also convinced me that I should be watching Romeo X Juliet). Then, Sunday, after finishing editing round #1 for UM 6 and sending it off to [livejournal.com profile] yzo for timing, I drove back over and did a walk through the dealer's hall. Big... very big. With aisles that were almost wide enough for a change. I didn't spend money at Nene Thomas' booth, which I feel quite proud of, as I usually spend too much there, and I acquired a card from Alain Viesca's booth... I will eventually spend too much on both of their art, of course. My grand total was six shitajiki. It would've been eight, but the booth that had the other two I wanted was charging $12 for new shitajiki. Uh, no, I don't think so.

After that I was still trying to make myself feel better, so I went to the Gardena BookOff, which didn't have anything I was interested enough to buy, then to Mitsuwa, where (1) peach water for immediate drinking, and (2) Aquarius and C.C. Lemon for later drinking were acquired. Then I proceded to find the mysterious third BookOff, located in Rolling Hills... actually not too far from the Torrance Mitsuwa, albeit in the exact opposite direction from the Gardena BookOff. And there I hit the jackpot. Not only did they have all the discs of Kamen Rider Agito I was missing up to ten (so I still need 11-13) but also the Special Edition disc of Kamen Rider Kuuga, which has episodes 1-2 in a movie format plus the mysterious episode 50! And the "Shall We Dance" Japanese DVD for [livejournal.com profile] sandpanther! I was very amused at the register guy adding up my total twice to be sure it was correct because he said he wasn't used to such large totals... I didn't spend (relatively, I suppose) that much to my mind. ^^;; And then I hit Borders and using a 20% coupon and $5 in "Borders Bucks," got the newest of Mercedes Lackey's historical fantasy books, "By Slanderous Tongues," for a decent price to add to my reading pile. Then I came home, translated the first six and a bit minutes of UM 9 and did an initial review of the first round of edits for UM 4, to be incorporated after work today.

Mmmm, peach water. Oh booger, now I'm going to want Asian drinks for the rest of summer until I get back to California, lol!
