*wedding bells*
May. 21st, 2007 10:29 amWent to my uncle's wedding yesterday, had a blast. The ceremony was lovely, with my father in his tux as the best man, and I hope my uncle and new aunt will be very happy together. We gave them a bottle of very good sake (with gold leaf in it) that we bought for the purpose in Japan, and a sake set. Since he's a wine connisseur and they're taking their honeymoon in Napa (wine country), and we're a bit of Japanophiles even if we don't really drink, the gift seems kind of appropriate.
I possibly danced too much at the reception, as I seem to've strained a muscle in my hip that I didn't even know was there, but it felt sooooo good to dance some. It was really fun when the dj played the Hand Jive and Mom and my sister and I were the only ones who knew how to do it, with my sister being the only one who remembered it all. Our table was right next to the dance floor, so we had a semi-circle of people around us figuring out how to do it as the three of us and my Wonderful Husband kept doing the hand jive to the music. Great fun. And Wonderful Husband and I didn't outdance anyone, but it was really nice knowing how to dance and making a decent showing of it on the dance floor... swing and waltz and even the merengue and a bit of salsa. If I'm recalling correctly, on Wednesday evenings at the community center near where I work (five miles from home) there's some kind of swing dance group going on... maybe after Fanime we'll look into it, as we're not enrolled in any classes at the moment. Though our waltz needs more improvement than swing, but you take what you can get, right?
