Blackie was rereleased at work today and boy did he ever scramble. I also picked up Ash's siblings and... they're more than twice as big as he was. Poor baby probably never stood a chance. They're currently dubbed Lock, Stalk, and Barrel, and I'll be taking them to see some of the people who do local kitten fostering in the morning. I should do it myself, but... I just can't. Ash is too raw in my heart right now. Chess is apparently a wild cat, not a domestic stray, but I'll be minding her for ten days nonetheless come Friday morning, which is the condition of the vet releasing her from the hospital that day.

I've finished the primary run-through of Moebius 30 and other than wanting to strangle Teppei (technobabble is NOT my translation cup of tea) it went fairly well. Between Wikipedia and an online Japanese-English dictionary, I even managed to nail the weaponry attacks. Because, y'know, "warhead" just wasn't in any of my Japanese vocab lessons in college. That said, the next time I catch [livejournal.com profile] sandpanther on IM, I'm so pestering her for help with certain terms and sentences. And Wonderful Husband has been sucked into our project and is learning how to do subtitling. Yay! Now we just need a project name....

Oh, and I have curry. Finally. ^_^

I was just told today that Ash didn't make it, and I'm really sorry. I'm glad to see that you're taking care of Chess, though.

Yay curry! And congrats on getting the initial run-though done! That is really fast.

I should hopefully be on tonight. Will see if I go to the gym or not (am currently thinking yet -- moving a bunch of weights around sounds highly appealing at the moment.)

Uh, we probably need some way of putting torrents up. Otherwise [livejournal.com profile] hoshikage is going to need to figure out how to use all the subtitle tools so she can make her own copies.

Aw, poor Ash. Probably the runt of the litter. Good luck finding homes for the other kitties.

Curry is a good and happy thing...and good for you, too.

Subtitling bad news: My speed estimate was _way_ off. My initial timing run didn't take it account I was going to need to split dialog lines into 3 or 4 pieces so I was only really timing a quarter of the lines I needed to.

Subtitling good news: I managed to get VirtualDubMod to do a double pass encode to hard sub 29 and it looks pretty good (quality wise, not sub-wise, I'm not done yet). I also managed to do some fun things with the introduction text subs (change colour at the right time, fade-in, etc.) :)

Poor little Ash. I had a runt kitten not make it, too. It's awful when it happens, but thank goodness you showed him warmth and love when he was here. That's all we can do.

Oops. Important tip: Get your translator to put each seperate piece of dialog on a seperate line before you do the timing. Half an hour of splitting the lines before timing saves you hours of fixing after timing.

I am in awe of your technical coolness in getting all the fanciness to work! Now I need to get back to work translating, since I think we're just about out of things to time.
