Sparklies and ballet shoujos
Jul. 18th, 2005 10:50 pmLast night while at my parents' I finally finished sorting through my grandmother's dresser, organizing things. It's been a (very background) ongoing project for a while. This led to finding lots of old photographs (it's scary how much my sister and I resemble Mom and Granny both) and also the locating of some notables like my mother's and uncle's baby teeth.
Tonight I was back at my parents with machine oil (Dad showed me how to fix the vacuum head!) and E6000 glue, glueing rhinestones back on to a necklace/bracelet set that has to be from the '50s (missing a dozen gems still) as well as onto a brooch that belonged to my great-grandmother. Itty bitty rhinestones for the latter. As in it's only about 3" long and 1" tall, but it's still missing 88 stones kind of tiny. I know there was at least one other piece I found yesterday with loose stones, but it'll turn up again later and I'll fix it then. I'm planning that the next time I go to the fabric district I'll take both pieces with and see what I can find to finish the repairs.
And then I came home, petted the cat a lot, and watched the first disc of Princess Tutu. When Wonderful Husband was trying to get me to watch it via fansubs, I liked it okay, but I like it better now than I did then. I need to find a site that has screencaps since I'm not quite understanding how Drosselmeyer's cape/cloak thing is constructed... unfortunately I haven't been able to find info (an ISBN would be nice!) as to any artbooks of the show. With my luck, they probably don't exist. Bleh.
And unfortunately, my left knee is even tweakier than it was earlier. I hope it heals up overnight or tomorrow at work is going to be a pain.
