On fabric and things
May. 20th, 2005 08:17 amThe petticoat is done. Next, two skirt and a top. Pulled out the yellow satin I have for one of the underskirts and it has a slight slight hint of orange to it... putting that and the moire for the rest of the costume together, they look good. I think all I'll need to buy is probably some organza for the shoulder trim and I'll have it all.
(aka: How K-chan plans to spend her weekend.)
One thing I realized about why I don't like the new SW movies as much as the originals: there was always a big thing about how, for the first time, this was a Sci-Fi universe that looked *lived in*. Aside from Shmi Skywalker, there's none of that in Episodes I and II. No battered spaceship, no hand-me-down lightsabers... it's all shiny and new. Which is kind of appropriate for Senators and Queens and politics, I guess, but I liked the broken-in look of the originals. Higher tech isn't everything.
